Internet Time
Internet Time is a "new" way to tell time, invented and marketed by the Swiss watch company Swatch. The current Internet Time is the same all over the World (no time zones or daylight saving time adjustments). The current Internet time can be found in the last column of the clock at the top of each page on this website. Instead of dividing the virtual and real day into 24 hours and 60 minutes per hour, the Internet Time system divides the day into 1000 ".beats". Each .beat is 1 minute and 26.4 seconds. Internet time is displayed in the format "@xxx".

1) What type of service do you provide?

Our standard service includes a complete computer tune-up, diagnosis, troubleshooting and repair. We provide secure back up for your important data, run disk diagnosis and defragmenting, scan for and remove any and all viruses, spyware, and other malicious code. We troubleshoot and repair lockups, error messages, and “ blue screens of death”. We’ll repair errors to your Windows registry and clean any unneeded files and programs from your computer. We also update all of your software, and make recommendations for any upgrades to your system. We also provide advice for your personal computer security and privacy.

2) How Much Do You Charge For Your Service?

We charge an hourly rate of $35.00. Most of our repairs are done in 2 hours or less. Our maximum labor fee is $75.00. If your computer requires any hardware to be replaced, we only charge our cost for the part. We only buy from select internet wholesale vendors to get you the very best quality replacement parts and economical prices.

3) Where Are You Located ?

Our shop is only ten minutes from Watertown, N.Y. just off Rte. 11. You can drop your computer at our shop, or we can arrange for a pick up any weekday at the Watertown Dulles State Office Building. Also, for the greater Watertown/southern Jefferson County area, we can pick up your computer at your house and return it when it repaired. For other areas of Jefferson County, we charge a small nominal fee of $5.00 for pick up and delivery.

4) Do You Make House Calls?

Yes, we do make house calls. However, we want to make sure your computer is fixed right the first time. This can be best accomplished in our shop, where we can take the time to do a complete system diagnosis in a secure environment. We don’t feel like your getting your money’s worth in the few minutes that we can spend on your computer during a house call. Most of the problems encountered with today’s computers require one or more diagnostic scans to be run. These scans can take from several minutes to several hours to run. Most people would rather have us do this in our shop than do it while we’re sitting around their house. Ever hear about the computer that supposedly got fixed, but when the user turned it on the next day, the problem mysteriously returned? This is exactly the kind of situation we attempt to avoid. If you’re concerned about “unhooking” all the cords from your computer, and then getting everything hooked back up correctly, we’d be happy to do this for you.

5) How Long Before I Get My Computer Back?

Of course this depends on how busy we are, but normally we can get your computer back to you in 24 to 48 hours. If you have an “emergency” and need a fast turn around, feel free to give us a call or email, we’ll do what we can.

6) Do You Service Macintosh Computers?

No, we service only Windows based PC’s.

7) Do You Build Custom Systems?

Yes we do. If you have specific requirements for a custom system, give us a call or send us an email and we'll provide you with a free quote.

8) Do You Guarantee Your Work?

Absolutely! If you’re not completely satisfied with our service, just let us know and we’ll make it right or provide a complete refund. And best of all is the “dP Guarantee: If We Can’t Fix It, You Don’t Pay”. If we can’t repair your computer or fix your problem in a reasonable time, you owe nothing. (See note below for older operating systems)

9) Do You Provide Technical Support?

Yes, we provide email technical support. Of course, our previous customers will receive priority. If you have a computer related question or problem, just send us an email and we’ll see what we can do. If you’re one of our customers be sure to mention that in your email.

10) Why Is My Computer So Slow?

Remember when you first took you new computer out of the box and everything worked so well and was so fast? And now, months or years later, all these nagging errors, pop-ups, and lockups keep happening. And everything is so slooooooowwwwwww……
What happened?
This is probably the most common problem we see in our shop today. One of the problems is caused by installing/uninstalling programs. Sometimes, one program conflicts with another. When you try to remove it, some of the fragments remain in your Windows registry and can cause problems. More commonly these days are the villains lurking out there on the World Wide Web. Viruses, trojans, worms, spyware, malware, browser helper objects, malicious scripts, etc. I won’t get into a detailed discussion here of what each one of these things is and what they do. The important thing for the average home computer user to know is that they are all bad and are probably causing one or more of the problems listed above. Most, if not all of them are loaded onto your computer with out your knowledge or permission. Many of them have the ultimate goal of selling you something. A few of them are just the result of some incredibly talented sicko trying to harm other people’s computers. Many of them, in themselves, are harmless. But combined with other programs or similar types of bugs, and who knows what can happen?
In my opinion, the more of these things you can get rid of, and the more of them you can keep from re-invading your computer, the better off you are. And, besides, who wants their privacy invaded?
So how do you get rid of them?
Some are relatively easy to remove. Check out my links page for guidance. Others are more troublesome, and seem to keep coming back no matter what you do. If you’re experiencing any of the above problems, please consider using our services. We’re happy to help.

11) I Have An Older Version of Windows, Should I Upgrade?

While the older Versions (98,ME,2000,XP) of Windows were all good operating systems, none them were designed to cope with the magnitude of dangers on the World Wide Web in the year 2008. These systems just weren’t designed to handle the nasty stuff that’s out there today. Most of these systems that I see either won’t boot at all or are so slow and/or plagued with so many error messages that they are practically unusable. In these cases, my normal recommendation is to back up any important data, wipe the hard drive clean, and do a clean install of the original operating system. It’s surprising how fast and reliable one of these older sytems becomes after a clean install. I don’t recommend upgrading an older computer to a newer operating system (i.e. upgrade Windows XP to Windows Vista). Every generation of new Windows software uses more and more memory. Most older computers just don’t have enough oomph to run the newer versions of Windows. So, if you have an older computer that seems to have reached it’s useful life, let me see if I can’t get a few more years out of it for you. Even a computer running Windows 98 can still be used as a second computer in the home for doing word processing, email, etc.

12) Do You Repair Printers?

Generally speaking we do not repair printers. Printers have become so nexpensive that they are basically a throw away item (it costs more to repair an old printer than it does to buy a new one). Some printer problems are, however easy to fix. A common problem that fits into this category is the paper not feeding properly (or at all). Email me if you’re experiencing this problem and want a possible quick fix. If you have a high end photo printer that cost several hundred dollars on the other hand, it may be worth your while to take it to a printer repair shop. Contact the manufacturer of your printer and find the location of the nearest factory authorized repair center.

13) Do You Design Web Pages?

Although our business is mainly geared toward computer service and repair, we do a limited amount web page design. We have designed several web pages including the one you are viewing right now! We charge a flat fee of $250 for a basic 3 page website. See our links page for other websites we have designed. If you have any questions about web page design please email us.

14) I Have A Really Dumb Computer Question That I’m Afraid To Ask.

Don’t be. Everyone was a novice at one time or another. Just email me and I’ll be happy to provide you with a prompt, courteous answer, if I can. And since it’s email, you can remain basically anonymous.

15) Do You Have References?

By all means, references will be provied upon request.
